Forsyth County Senior Services hosted the Georgia Parks & Rec Senior Talent Show for the second year, held Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Sexton Hall.. 2024 NashvilleThis trip, April 29 - May 3, 2024, included tours of Nashville and Belle Meade; visits to Country Music Hall of Fame, Behind the Scenes at the Grand Ole Opry, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, Johnny Cash museum and Patsy Cline museum; and shows at the Grand Ole Opry and Nashville Nightlife Dinner Theatre. The Fall Hoe Down at Sexton Hall in September 2023 hosted almost 100 seniors who came dressed to line dance! Our experienced dance teacher led instruction in a variety of dance steps to country AND western tunes. Games and a photo booth added to the fun. Dessert treats and refreshments kept the energy up, as well as a host of fall-themed door prizes. Check out the full photo gallery for all photos.
The Sock Hop at Sexton Hall in June 2023 attracted over 70 swinging seniors who showed they still had the goods when it came to dancing! The featured singer performed many hits from the 50s and 60s, and we led several group dances to old favorites. Light snacks and door prizes added to the fun. Another great Valentine's Day dance in February, with food, music, dancing, door prizes and more! The house was "sold out" for this free event, so remember to sign up early next year!
A fundraiser for Senior Services, Historical Society of Cumming/Forsyth County, and Age Well, the Haunted History Tour told the stories of some of the founding fathers of Forsyth County buried in the Cumming Cemetery located in the heart of the city. Four tour nights over the weekends of October 21-22 and 28-29 had hundreds of visitors enjoy the one-hour walking tour.
