The 15th annual Forsyth Senior Expo was held last Saturday April 8th. Age Well Forsyth participated in the event by passing out information on trips, events and programs Age Well participates in!
You can read more about the Expo on the Forsyth County News HERE. Age Well Forsyth Saluted America and her armed forces at the Cumming Playhouse over two weekends performing 8 shows in late March. It was a great show drawing large crowds. The two act show consisted of song and dance from eras throughout America's history. The first act covered The Revolutionary War up until War World II. The second act covered up until present day America. Age Well Forsyth had a great guest Elvis impersonator from Pigeon Forge Tennessee, Doug Thompson. He was a fan favorite among the crowds preforming many of Elvis' greatest hits. It was truly a great production with all areas of the armed forces honored. Thanks to everyone who attended and please check our website and Facebook page for any upcoming events if you missed this one! Check out the Forsyth County News write up HERE. THANK YOU SAWNEE ARTISTS FOR DONATING FOOD FOR OUR SENIORS EVERY MONTH!!!
Charles Place Seniors Center on Dahlonega Highway serves over 190 Meals-On-Wheels meals per day with the help of their staff and wonderful volunteers. Age Well Forsyth is providing carriers for hot meals to help expand this program. Age Well Forsyth will provide additional food to those seniors who require further food supplements. This new service will be coupled with current services which provide food for cats and dogs as well as personal hygiene products. The new Program called " Feeding Seniors" began December 2015. This program will provide an additional bag offood to seniors on the Meals-On-Wheels route which are in need. This food will be delivered by the volunteers and staff drivers already in place.
The need for this program was brought to Age Well's attention when a young college student, Lauren Timms, choose to provide additional food in this manner for a college project. Ms. Timms did "Treat Bags" in October for all Meals-On-Wheels routes. It was discovered then that around 27 people needed additional food. Most are elderly and some do not drive. This is a great year round "Christmas Project". We salute the volunteer drivers and note that more are always needed. Linda Ledbetter |
